Lexington Restaurant Cited For Breaking Mask Mandate

The Fayette County Health Department issued their first citation to a Lexington business for not following the statewide mask ordinance. LFCHD Spokesman Kevin Hall said the health department received a complaint that employees at Wing Zone on Eureka Springs Drive were not wearing masks or face coverings.

The policy is to first warn businesses and remind them of Kentucky’s ‘Health at Work’ requirements, then health officials revisit the establishment in five days. Hall said several Wing Zone employees were non-compliant during the follow-up. “Our process is the first time you go out you look for anything that is going on that would be in violation, work with management to make sure that this is fixed and come back out in five days to ensure that everything is working as it should. On that follow up visit we noticed that most of the staff were not wearing face coverings when our inspector entered and the citation was issued because of that.”

The first offense comes with a fine of $50. A second citation will cost a business $75 and a third will run $100.
