Gateway COVID cases up Over 600% in Two Weeks

Facebook

The upward trend in COVID-19 cases seen in the state is being felt in the Gateway District as well.

The Gateway District Health Department covers Bath, Elliott, Menifee, Morgan and Rowan Counties.  In mid-June, the District began reporting new cases on a weekly basis instead of daily due to a declining infection rate.  On July 7th there were six cases reported.  Friday, 38 cases were reported.  That’s more than a six-fold increase in just two weeks.

Gregory Brewer is the Public Health Director for the Department.  He says the vaccination rate for the area is still far too low.

Brewer confirmed there have been multiple infections of the Delta variant confirmed in the area as well.
