Medical marijuana has reached another milestone in Kentucky, further pushing forward the process of cultivating cannabis in the state. Officials said this opens up a future for Kentuckians where health care is more available to those suffering, and communities can be safer.
Governor Andy Beshear said while licensed operators are already growing safe medical cannabis in the state, Kentucky is about to grow a whole lot more.
“After passing its final inspection, the Office of Medical Cannabis has approved another cultivator to begin cultivation activities here in Kentucky. And this one is a big one. Natural State Green Grass CannaCo is a tier three cultivation facility, one of the two largest cultivation facilities in Kentucky,” said Beshear.
Governor Beshear also said this step forward will allow Kentuckians to have access to better health care and safer communities.
“One of our priorities is ensuring that Kentuckians that are suffering from serious medical issues like cancer, PTSD, or multiple sclerosis can have safe access to medical cannabis as soon as possible to get the relief they need,” said Beshear.
The facility is located in Madison County and plans a phased roll out of cultivation operations. Officials say the company will eventually expand to all 25,000 square feet of cultivation space.
