Kentuckians who are suffering from substance use and are in recovery have the opportunity to become healthy, skilled, and employable through a non-profit organization located in Russell Springs. Officials said Kentucky Recovery Vocational Workforce Reimagine provides recovering addicts with training and vocational skills to help them meet the workforce needs of the Commonwealth.

Jerick D'vor, executive director for Kentucky Recovery Vocational Workforce and Re-entry Incorporated, said they offer manufacturing and welding training with their vocational services.

“We do that by collaborating with the substance use disorder treatment recovery efforts to be able to offer a holistic approach to the individuals to be able to make them work ready. We are also teaching industry recognized vocational skills; connecting participants to meaningful employment,” said D’vor.

Additionally, the organization provides soft skill training as part of the curriculum for a certified production technician. D’vor also said unlike most programs, they offer 90 days of service whereas most only offer 30 days.

“90 days into recovery is where we found the sweet spot of having a person trained to be able to go into the workplace. And I think we can all agree that an individual that is in 90 days sober is going to be able to be much more successful and the stresses of life and coping with the world around them,” said D’vor.

The program also gives individuals access to job coaches who work directly with them to answer questions. Job coaches also help people prepare themselves for interviews.
