Local professionals outline key strategies for business growth in Eastern Kentucky

Northeast Kentucky Workforce Conference

Several of Eastern Kentucky’s leading professional development experts have highlighted modern strategies for business enhancement. One of these strategies includes using artificial intelligence to evaluate potential candidates.

Jason Slone is President and CEO of the Morehead-Rowan County Chamber of Commerce. Following a Northeast Kentucky Workforce conference, he said local events provide excellent networking opportunities for business owners.

“As good as we all are at our own jobs, we don't know everything and being able to attend these conferences that are local, have valuable information that is tangible helps us do our jobs a little bit better, and it doesn't break the bank in the same process,” said Slone.

The University of Kentucky Human Development Institute stated hiring people with disabilities is an effective strategy to strengthen a workforce. According to the institute, this broadens the applicant pool, and fosters employee loyalty.

Jason Slone added workforce development is a multifaceted topic.

“Workforce development is complex. There is no one answer that fits, fits everything. And so, by having a variety of different speakers and a variety of different topics gives you the ability to be able to really take something back,” said Slone.

Some experts recommend consulting firms as a helpful tool in fostering business growth. These firms provide strategic planning guidance, which helps companies achieve their financial goals. Another service offered by some firms is sales development counseling, which can help businesses expand their client base and drive new purchases.
