The region is under a Winter Weather Advisory for 24 hours from midnight Saturday until midnight Sunday. There's a chance of rain and snow before 11 p.m. Saturday, then snow likely overnight. Strong winds are possible with gusts up to 24 mph. Snow continues throughout the day Sunday with new accumulation amounts of 1-3 inches possible.
The Rowan County Fiscal Court reports crews are on standby to start prepping roads for snow and plowing. The rain coming in before the snow makes the process more complicated, but at this time crews are prepared to start working on the roads between 4 and 5 a.m. Sunday. Officials ask everyone to use caution if they must travel and stay home if they can.
