Kentucky State Police request Kentuckians help “Cram the Cruiser” this holiday season

Kentucky State Police

The Kentucky State Police are requesting donations for their annual Cram the Cruiser food drive from now until December 8. Officials said the goal of the drive is to make sure no family goes hungry on Christmas.

Governor Andy Beshear said last year KSP secured 162,047 pounds of food with the help of Kentuckians across the state.

“That's 83 tons of food that was distributed to Kentucky families for their Christmas. Let's see if we can match or exceed that this year,” said Beshear.

Items requested include non-perishable food items such as non-expired canned fruit and vegetables, canned meat, macaroni and cheese, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, canned soups, chili or spaghetti sauce, brownie and cake mixes, coffee, water, powdered milk, and juices.

‘We know far too many of our people go hungry on Christmas Day where we're supposed to remember that we're on this earth to love and care about each other. Let's make sure that there isn't a single hungry individual out there in our Commonwealth. I encourage every Kentuckian to join me and my family to Cram the Cruiser,” said Beshear.

On Friday, December 6, KSP troopers will be collecting donations at the Morehead Kroger from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the Walmart in Ashland from 2 until 5 that afternoon. Premade donation bags will also be available for purchase inside the stores for anyone interested. A full list of participating stores and the days KSP troopers will be there can be found on the KSP Facebook page.
