Four programs in the Commonwealth are getting a funding boost from the Veterans Program Trust Fund. Governor Andy Beshear announced $145,000 was approved last month. The Kentucky General Assembly established the Veteran’s Program Trust Fund in 1988 with the purpose of directing funds to programs that assist veterans.
Beshear said these members of the community deserve the best Kentucky can give them.
“Which is why we believe it is nothing short of a sacred duty to support and care for these heroes. We will always honor those who fought on our behalf and in our defense. Those who sacrifice their time, their health, and sometimes even their lives. And we pray for all those lost, and for those who continue to serve,” said Beshear.
Beshear also said the total amount awarded since December of last year is now more than $955,000 to 29 grantees, including the latest round of funding.
“HorseSensing was awarded $20,000 to provide nine months of support for veterans in HorseSensing’s residential, therapeutic, job training, and placement program. Kentucky Habitat for Humanity was awarded $90,000 to provide critical home repairs for low to extremely low-income Kentucky veterans,” Beshear said.
Paws-Ability is slated to get $10,000 for training and the placement of two service dogs for local veterans or first responders struggling with PTSD. And the Kentucky Aviation Historical Society is receiving $25,000 to help them host a two-day festival highlighting the history of aviation.
