Kentucky to debut new online resource to help students navigate post-secondary education

The Kentucky Department of Education, along with the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education and the Kentucky Center for Statistics, are developing a new online tool for students in the Commonwealth. Officials said the Futuriti website will provide important information about post-secondary education.

The platform will be targeted towards high schoolers searching for colleges, walking them through the process of applying for financial aid, including the FAFSA.

Trinity Walsh is a coordinator of early postsecondary opportunities with the Council on Postsecondary Education. She said the website will help students understand their passions and find a career suited to their skills and knowledge.

“When you’re looking in the continuing education section, what we try to do is we try to give you some tools to start thinking about those ideas,” said Walsh. “And then from there, once you discover some things about yourself, then you start to understand the college process and the major process. And once you have decided, ‘Okay, here’s where I want to go. Here is what I would like to do. How am I going to pay for it?”

Kentucky Commissioner of Education Robbie Fletcher said the website will encourage Kentucky graduates to pick in-state schools.

“I think one of the things we really need to focus on is placement-based education. If we want our best and brightest to come back home, we have to let them know what’s available in their interest fields,” said Fletcher.

Officials said the platform will be easily accessible for all learners, requiring no login credentials to use. Funding for the website comes from the Elementary and Secondary Emergency Relief fund. The Kentucky Department of Education is expected to launch Futuriti in early 2025.
