Maysville Community and Technical College offers revamped Career Services

Maysville Community and Technical College

Maysville Community and Technical College’s Career Services program has been refocused to better serve the students, staff, and alumni with career-related needs. Officials said the goal is to help students find a job that matches the skills they learned during their time at MCTC.

Rebecca Morton is the Director of Career Services and work-based learning at MCTC. She said the improved program will offer a variety of assistance.

“We also can help students and alumni if they need assistance in deciding, you know, what type of career would be a good fit for them. Sometimes that’s really tough to know. What it is that you want to do with your life, and stepping in kind of a reverse direction, or I guess starting with the end in mind,” said Morton.

Other services offered will include resume and cover letter writing, interview skills, and LinkedIn support. Morton said the program will provide guest speakers to talk to staff and students to teach them about the different jobs available to them.

“I think a really important thing in that arena is to expose students to the different opportunities that exist within a certain industry. Another example that I will use is nursing. There are lots of different ways that you can find a pathway within that career,” said Morton.

The services are not limited to students. MCTC alumni who want help negotiating their careers or want to find something different can also benefit from the program.
