St. Claire HealthCare and UK to host partnership celebration in Morehead

St. Claire HealthCare

With the impending finalization of the merger between the University of Kentucky and Morehead’s St. Claire HealthCare, officials are inviting the public to celebrate. The partnership celebration will be held June 12 at 11 a.m. in the Morehead Conference Center.

Officials said the event will allow St. Claire employees and the public to meet with UK’s leaders and medical professionals. President and CEO of St. Claire HealthCare, Donald Loyd, said the community is invited to learn more about the changes coming to the region.

“They can help us celebrate this milestone event that will truly transform not only the way we deliver care but the way we educate future generations of medical professionals. And the economic impact that we hope will make a substantial investment throughout the entire region,” said Lloyd.

The healthcare leader said the merger will bring new economic and educational opportunities to the area and wouldn’t have been possible without the community.

“If it wasn’t for this region supporting St. Claire in the past, if it wasn’t for the community support that we have received we would’ve never been in a position to be able to bring this project, at this magnitude, here,” said Lloyd.

Lloyd said UK has pledged a minimum $300 million investment in infrastructure projects over the next several years. Officials report the overall economic impact of the merger will total around $1.5 billion.

The event Wednesday will feature presentations from education and government officials, including UK President Dr. Eli Capilouto, Representative Richard White, Senior Advisor Rocky Adkins, and State Senator Steve West. The partnership celebration will also focus on the history of St. Claire and its 60 years of work in the region.
