An educational housing event in the region aims to make homeownership a reality for more people. The HUD House Party is organized by Frontier Housing. It takes place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the CHER building in Morehead. Officials said the goal of the event is to provide information and advice about buying and building homes.

Jessica Conn is the Senior Lending Manager with Frontier Housing. She said many people face obstacles that steer them away from home ownership, but Frontier Housing provides solutions.

“If your credit is not where it needs to be, and you have some things to work on, we have a credit counseling department that will work with you free of charge until you are ready. So, as long as you are willing, we will continue to work with you until you get to closing day,” said Conn.

At the event Saturday, each Frontier Housing department will have a booth, so attendees can get the information that is most relevant to them. Conn said the organization can help homeowners in a large service area.

“We serve 22 counties amongst our services, the majority of those will be counties that we can build homes in. We can do loans anywhere in the state of Kentucky, for mortgage loans. We also have added on an updated service area in which we are serving with our weatherization program,” said Conn.

Conn said the information the event provides is useful to current homeowners and those looking to purchase their first property. The HUD House Party with food and door prizes will teach attendees about federal resources that anyone can use to make ownership more attainable. Information on mortgage loan options, fair housing, budgeting, and home repair will also be available.
