Several new businesses will be launching in downtown Morehead this year.

Tony Pence, Executive Director of Downtown Morehead, Incorporated, said the new businesses include Tres Hermanos, a Mexican restaurant located at 101 West Main Street, and the recently opened Stargazer Lounge, a live music bar on North Wilson.

Most recently announced was the expected arrival of Fat Patty’s, which is a restaurant specializing in burgers and other pub food. Pence said the company behind the eatery, the Ashland Investment Group, will be leasing the building where Pasquale’s and The Local Taco were previously located.

“They have stores in West Virginia, I think Tate’s Valley, Barboursville and Huntington, as well as on Winchester Avenue in Ashland,” he said. “They’ll utilize all three buildings for Fat Patty’s, is my understanding, and they should be open for business by July 1.”

Pence said the new restaurants will be good for the community.

“We’re short some lunch and dinner places as you know. But yeah, I feel like it will fill a huge need downtown,” he said. “We all love our fast food, but this is a step away from that into some chef-driven food.”

The Executive Director added Tres Hermanos will hopefully be fully operational within the next 60 days.
