MSU’s Spring Career and Internship Fair seeks recruiter applicants

Morehead State University

As Morehead State University prepares for the spring 2024 semester, one of the university’s biggest events is taking applicants. The Spring Career and Internship Fair will be held on February 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Adron Doran University Center.

Officials said the Career and Internship Fair gives employers a chance to make an impression on jobseekers in the MSU region. More than 500 people are expected to attend.

Megan Boone is the Director of the Center for Career Development and Experiential Education. She said so far, the roster holds many notable employers.

“We have a really strong mix of employers that are planning to be there from a variety of industries. We have Appalachian School of Law who’s going to be there,” said Boone. “We have Cintas Corporation, Grey Construction, we’ve got some school districts that are going to be there, Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife. So, there’s really something for everyone.”

Officials said MSU’s nursing, business, and engineering fields hold an especially large number of potential recruits, but the university touts a well-rounded student body of a variety of majors.

Applicants can get a discounted rate if they apply for early bird registration before January 26, and Boone added the earlier an organization registers, the better. She said registration rates differ between for-profit employers and government or nonprofit recruiters in order to book a variety of booths.

“So, we realize that our government and nonprofit employers typically don’t have that large of a budget for recruiting, so we really want to make our event accessible to all,” said Boone.

Parking information and other logistics will be made available to employers once they are accepted for the event. More information on the internship fair and other career-ready initiatives can be found on the Morehead State University Website.

The Career and Internship fair is free to attend for students, alumni, and other job-seekers.
