WMKY Alum wins Murrow Award

Samantha Morrill

A Morehead State Public Radio alum has received a prestigious award for their work in journalism.

Samantha Morrill Graduated from Morehead State University in the fall of 2016. She currently works at WEKU in Richmond as a reporter and the host of All Things Considered.

Morrill Received an Edward. R. Murrow Award earlier this year. The award is given to recipients who have demonstrated the spirit of excellence Murrow set as a standard for the profession of electronic journalism. Morrill received the recognition for her work covering the mass eviction of residents at the North Fork Mobile Home Park in Morehead last year.

Morrill says she is proud of broadening the audience for a story that affects the people of her home town, and covering it would not have been possible without the help of her team at WEKU. She adds she will always be thankful for getting her footing in the field during her time at Morehead State Public Radio.
