Flu Spreads in KY

The Kentucky Department for Public Health has reported to the Center for Disease Control that flu activity in the Commonwealth has gone up from regional to widespread, the highest level of flu activity.

Dr. Craig Humbaugh is the Senior Deputy Commissioner at the Department for Public Health. He says that the best way to protect against the flu is get a vaccination as early as possible. This year the predominent strain of flu is H1N1…

Humbaugh cautions that it normally takes the body two weeks after vaccination to develop the antibodies that repel the virus. Vaccines have not been in short supply across the state this year.

Anyone who has already contracted the illness is advised to stay in doors, get plenty of rest and avoid contact with others.
