The response to Tuesday’s opening of Kentucky’s new health insurance exchange has been “overwhelming.” That description is from the Secretary of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services Audrey Tayse Haynes. She says, as of 7 o’clock this morning, nearly 118,000 people had visited the exchange’s website, www.kynect.ky.gov .

Tayse Hayes says more than 35-hundred Kentuckians are now enrolled in a health care plan and 122 small businesses have started the application process. She says over 640,000 people in Kentucky lack health insurance.

Governor Beshear says the opening of Kentucky’s health insurance exchange Tuesday was his greatest day as governor. The Democrat says he’s convinced the availability of affordable plans in the Commonwealth will now produce a healthier generation of Kentuckians.
