Statewide Smoke-Free Battle Continues

On Milwaukee

A regional organizer for SmokeFree Kentucky says a key hurdle to clear in order to win passage of a statewide smoke-free law is convincing restaurant owners that it’s good for business.

David Little is visiting such places in northeastern Kentucky to make that point.

“Bars and restaurants are fearful of loss of business --the opposite has proven true. In Lexington, Louisville and city leaders in Ashland are delighted with their arrangement and Morehead and other places as well.” –David Little

Little was referring to cities that have approved local smoke-free legislation. He says the action has not driven away customers.

The Kentucky General Assembly may vote on proposed smoke-free legislation during its 2015 session.
