Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, Sept.13, 2014, in honor of former Kentucky First Lady Charlann Carroll.
“Jane and I were saddened to learn of Charlann Carroll’s death. Although she spent decades in the public eye as her husband served in the state legislature and the Governor’s mansion, she always remained graceful, approachable and deeply committed to her family,” said Gov. Beshear.
“Our thoughts are with her husband, Senator Julian Carroll, their children Kenneth, Patrice and Ellyn, and their family and friends at this difficult time," added Gov. Beshear.
Mrs. Carroll passed away on Wednesday (Sept. 10), and funeral services will be held on Saturday.
Gov. Beshear encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in the flag-lowering tribute.
