Whitfield's Sunscreen Bill

A Kentucky Congressman has introduced legislation to streamline the Food and Drug Administration’s process for approving new sunscreen ingredients. Christian County Republican Ed Whitfield says the FDA has not approved a new ingredient for sunscreen in 15 years and that’s hard to understand…

Whitfield says melanoma is also one of the most common forms of cancer among young adults, particularly women. He claims his Sunscreen Innovation Act would require that pending and new applications be reviewed more quickly and with greater transparency.
