Representative Stacy on Money & Politics

A veteran member of the Kentucky House of Representatives who is leaving office at the end of this year would like increased scrutiny on the amount of money being spent to influence votes in the General Assembly. Democrat John Will Stacy of Morgan County was elected to the House more than 20 years ago. He made the comment last week at a meeting of the House Committee on State Government.

However, the LEC does provide monthly reports on spending by lobbyists and their employers. The commission says a record 2.1 million dollars was spent during the first month of the 2014 General Assembly. The biggest spender was the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce at more than 34,700 dollars.
