KY Gas Official Touts Pipeline

Investor Place

Construction of the Bluegrass Pipeline would help lower bills for many rural Kentuckians who depend on propane to heat their homes, farms and businesses…So says the legislative chair of the Kentucky Oil and Gas Association Bill Barr.

Barr told a panel of state lawmakers in Frankfort today (Tuesday) that Kentucky is a large user of propane and much of it is exported to the Commonwealth. He says parts of the Bluegrass not served by local distribution companies could save on their utility bills if they could access the natural gas liquids moving through the pipeline. Barr isn’t sure why the proposal by Williams and Boardwalk has sparked environmental opposition…

"Keep in mind what we're talking about, we're not talking about toxic waste product...we're talking about natural gas liquids that this state has dealt with, produced, manufactured and exported..." -  Bill Barr

Barr says Kentucky is already sending propane, butane and ethane to petro-chemical industries in the South. The proposed Bluegrass Pipeline would extend from Pennsylvania into Ohio and through 18 counties in central Kentucky.
