Kentucky Public Retiree Conference Planned

The annual conference of Kentucky Public Retirees (KPR) is planned June 12-13 at the Holiday Inn in Louisville (I-64 & Hurstbourne Lane).

Public employees and retirees who receive benefits from any of the three systems covered by the Kentucky Retirement Systems (Kentucky Employees Retirement System, County Employees Retirement System, and State Police Retirement System) are encouraged to attend.

Guest speakers include Executive Director of Kentucky Retirement Systems (KRS), William Thielen, who will address the future stability of the system and the impacts associated with recent changes in the system.  Stephanie Heller, Account Executive with Humana, Inc., will provide an overview and answer questions regarding health insurance.

Louisville Chief of Police Steve Conrad, Vice President of Racing Communications at Churchill Downs John Asher, and former Navy SEAL Sgt. Rudy Davis are also featured guests who will speak to attendees Thursday afternoon.

“We want to invite government employees from across the commonwealth, whether currently a member of KPR or not,” says Paul Guffey, KPR president.  “This is an opportunity to meet or catch up with former colleagues, learn more about our organization, and stay informed about the current issues that are impacting the Kentucky Retirement Systems and you as a government employee or retiree.”

The conference begins at 1 p.m. Thursday.  A banquet Thursday evening includes the presentation of the Waterfield Awards, presented yearly to KPR members for achievement and humanitarian accomplishments.  Friday’s business meeting from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. will close out the conference.
