MCTC Rowan Campus Receives $500,000 to Purchase Land

MCTC Rowan Campus

State and local officials gathered near Morehead on Monday (Jan. 12) to announce that the Rowan Campus of the Maysville Community and Technical College is receiving half a million dollars to purchase land near I-64 to build a new vocational school.

The structure will be developed on 41 acres in the John Will Stacy Industrial Park.

Russ Ward is director of the Rowan Campus and says plans for the project are coming together. He says the new school will provide state-of-the-art facilities and training for students in the region.

“We’re about a year away from actually breaking ground. We’re hoping that the whole project will be completed by January of 2018.” –Russ Ward

Ward says enrollment on the current campus is expected to exceed a thousand students this semester and the facility was only designed for 350. Ward adds the MCTC still needs to raise seven-million dollars to get the project underway.

The new school will represent a nearly 30-million dollar investment in the local community.
