Higher Education Funding Request
Morehead State University’s president says higher education is not likely to get the kinds of increases in state appropriations Kentucky’s Council on Postsecondary Education is seeking in the next two-year budget. However, Doctor Wayne Andrews says the
CPE has developed a proposal that addresses the state’s needs and moves Kentucky’s public colleges and universities forward.
The Council is asking for a 4.9% funding hike in 2014 and 5.3% the following year. Andrews thinks that’s reasonable…
Andrews says he’s hoping the universities receive some additional money and funding for key capital projects. He says with Kentucky’s revenues up only about two and a half percent, there won’t be enough money for all of the programs and services competing for extra dollars.
