State Representative Mike Denham of Maysville says Kentucky needs to make investments in its community college system. The Democrat says nothing is more important to the state’s economic future.
“You know, I have manufacturers at home tell me all the time that if they did not have a community college and the ability to train there, they would not have the people that could work. In fact, they still are saying that they are lagging behind as far as training and I think it’s real important that we do make that investment.” –Mike Denham
Denham says one company official told him recently there are 600-thousand jobs across the U.S. that can’t be filled because employers are unable to find trained workers. The lawmaker made his comments Thursday (August 22) afternoon at a meeting of the Interim Joint Committee on Appropriations and Revenue.
