Morehead Food Bank Warehouse Plans Progressing

Saugerties Food Pantry

Plans for a new warehouse to store food for God’s Pantry Food Bank in the Morehead area are progressing.

Marian Gunn heads the non-profit organization based in Lexington and says 200-thousand dollars have been raised so far towards the group’s 500-thousand dollar goal.

“This warehouse will enable us to better supply pantries and shelters and kitchens throughout the region for which Morehead is a hub, and so, we’re really excited about these plans and when we have a warehouse there, the ability to really impact, in a positive way, the amount of food that’s available to people in need.” –Marian Gunn

Gunn says God's Food Pantry supplies groceries for needy individuals and families in 50 eastern and central Kentucky counties. In 2012, the group distributed 24 million pounds of food throughout the region.
