Ohio AG Claims State Has 'Heroin Epidemic'

EMCDDA

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine says there’s a “heroin epidemic” in the Buckeye State. DeWine used those words in discussing abuse of the drug during a press conference today. He says heroin overdose deaths have more than doubled in Ohio over the past three years, reaching 606 in 2012.

However, the attorney general says it’s likely the actual number of people killed because of heroin is much higher…

DeWine says he’s forming a new unit within his office whose task will be to combat crime, addiction and overdose deaths associated with heroin in Ohio.
