Morehead Police Chief To Retire

Morehead Police Department

The City of Morehead is losing its police chief.

Mike Adams says he’s retiring in at the end of July. After three years of working as an officer for the Morehead State University Police Department, Adams has been with the Morehead Police Department for the past 25 years.

Adams says the time has passed quickly.

“I feel like I’ve accomplished most of the things that I’ve really had set out to do as chief. There’s always something on the horizon to do so, you never get everything done but we’ve got to accomplish a lot of things with a lot of help from a lot of people and my wife is anxious for me to retire and I feel like it’s time to retire.” –Mike Adams

The leadership torch will be passed to Assistant Chief David Sexton, who will become the new chief.

At this point, Adams has no specific plans for his retirement, other than to take a vacation and catch-up on some household duties. However, Adams adds, “nothing is off the table” as he ponders his future.
