Three Arrested On Drug Charges In Mason County

Three people, including a former deputy jailer of the Mason County Detention Center, were arrested in a drug bust Monday night (March 31).

The situation unfolded around 10:20 p.m., with a traffic stop in western Mason County and then a search warrant being executed on a residence around 11:30 p.m., in the Moransburg community.

According to Mason County Sheriff Patrick Boggs, the joint narcotics investigation involved his department, Carlisle Police Chief Gary Kinder and Nicholas County Sheriff Jeff "Bubba" Sidles.

The traffic stop took place on Kentucky 9 in the area of the Marathon Gas Station in western Mason County. Arrested at the scene were Angela Salsgiver, 45, and Robert Lee Salsgiver III, 40, both of Maysville, and Joseph Nathan Riddle II, 30, of Sterling Heights, Mich. Boggs said all three were charged with one count first-degree trafficking in controlled substance first offense greater than two grams of heroin.

Boggs said additional charges will be filed in the case related to items seized from the vehicle and the Salsgiver's residence at 3140 Germantown Road.

In the search of the vehicle and home, officials seized $11,000 in cash, 140 tablets of Ecstasy, 50 Oxycodone, 11 grams of heroin, two firearms and drug paraphernalia.

Robert and Angela Salsgiver and Riddle are incarcerated in the Mason County Detention Center.  Robert Salsgiver's bond was set at $20,000 cash; Angela Salsgiver at $30,000 cash; and Riddle at $30,000 cash.  All three are scheduled to appear in Mason County District Court Wednesday, April 2 for arraignment.

Salsgiver was fired in April 2013 from MCDC for allegedly kissing a female inmate. He was hired in March 2013.

Assisting in the arrest were Chief Deputy Chuck Fritz and deputies Jeff Hord and Brittney Price.
