The Kentucky Arts Council is accepting artists’ submissions for the Governor’s Derby Exhibit. The application deadline is March 9.
The Governor’s Derby Exhibit is associated with the annual Governor’s Derby Celebration. The exhibit is open to all Kentucky artists who are 18 years of age or older. This year’s exhibit theme is Kentucky Stories.
“The Kentucky Derby is an event unique to the Bluegrass State, and the Governor’s Derby Exhibit is a special part of the celebration,” said Lydia Bailey Brown, arts council executive director. “This is one of the only exhibits the arts council sponsors that is open to all Kentucky artists, and is a good opportunity for artists to connect with the Kentucky Arts Council and to have their work viewed by visitors to the Capitol, state legislators and Capitol staff.”
All submissions must be original work by the artist, two-dimensional and ready to hang. The overall dimensions, including frame, should not exceed 36 inches in width.
The annual show is coordinated by the arts council on behalf of Gov. Matt Bevin and First Lady Glenna Bevin.
