Murray Woodworker is Kentucky Arts Council’s Featured Artist for September, October

Kentucky Arts Council

Murray woodworking artist Wyatt Daglã Severs is the Kentucky Arts Council’s featured artist for September and October.

Severs grew up in southern Illinois and western Kentucky and has studied and taught woodworking at Murray State University, Peters Valley Craft Center, Anderson Ranch Arts Center, Penland School of Crafts, Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts and the Appalachian Center for Craft. He maintains a studio in Murray where he mentors, teaches and focuses on his own work.

“My work is representative of my awareness of all the small things in life that create and make up the whole while having a sense of history, paying homage to where we are, what got us there, and what we will do with it,” Severs said.

Severs is a member of the arts council’s Teaching Artists Directory, an adjudicated roster of Kentucky artists who produce high quality artistic work and have the skills and competencies needed to work with teachers and students in designing and implementing arts education programs.

To learn more about Severs, visit the arts council's website. The featured artist’s page includes a story about his work and contact information for Severs.
