Maysville has been ranked among the Top 10 cities in Kentucky as a retirement community.
SmartAsset, an online-based technology company that studies personal finance, home buying, retirement, life insurance and refinancing, issued a study on the best cities to retire in the United States in January.
In addition to being ranked No. 7 in Kentucky, Maysville ranked No. 789 in the nation with more than 4,000 cities looked at for the study, according to A.J. Smith, SmartAsset managing editor.
Smith said the study looks at four criteria: income and sales tax; the number of doctor offices per 1,000 people; social life activities including recreation centers and retirement centers.
The data is gathered from the U.S. Census Bureau, Zip Code business patterns and the 2012 U.S. Census Bureau American Communities Survey.
The top 10 cities in Kentucky are: Corbin, Somerset, LaGrange, Campbellsville, Murray, Paducah, Maysville, Glasgow, Bardstown, and Danville.
