‘Homegrown: Contemporary Kentucky Design & Illustration’ to open Oct. 15

The main gallery of Morehead State University's Claypool-Young Art Building will host “Homegrown: Contemporary Kentucky Design & Illustration,” Oct. 15-Nov. 25.

The display will feature the work of Kentucky illustrators and designers from Louisville, Lexington and Morehead.

An opening reception will be held Wednesday, Oct. 15, from 5-7 p.m.

The exhibition was co-juried by MSU alumnus Tim Jones, a creative director and graphic designer, who will make a presentation Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. in the Claypool-Young Art Building auditorium (room 111).

All events are free and open to the public.

Participating artists include Cricket Press and Jones of Lexington; Bryan Patrick Todd, Rachael Sinclair and Hound Dog Press of Louisville; and David V. Moore of Morehead.

Associated with the exhibition are multiple presentations and studio demos by Cricket Press, Jones, and Hound Dog Press, who will involve MSU students through class visits in arts entrepreneurship, printmaking and the department's senior capstone class.

These events are supported by MSU’s Department of Art & Design, Caudill College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and Morehead State Public Radio.

The gallery in Claypool-Young features contemporary art for the MSU community as well as the University’s service region. The gallery is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by appointment. There is no charge for viewing and the public is invited. Parking is available on Main Street during the day, and on the MSU campus after 5 p.m. weekdays, and all day on weekends.

Additional information is available by calling Jennifer Reis, gallery director, at 606-783-5446 or email j.reis@moreheadstate.edu.
