Arts Grant To Provide Music Programs For Seniors

The head of the Kentucky Center for Traditional Music admits he’s excited about partnering with the Gateway Area Development District on a local project.

The Gateway ADD recently received a 75-hundred dollar Arts Access Assistance Grant from the Kentucky Arts Council. The agency will be working with the KCTM, along with some local governments to provide music programs for selected area senior centers.

KCTM Director Raymond McClain says the effort plugs right into his facility’s overall mission.

“I think that this sort of outreach that we do at the Kentucky Center for the Traditional Music is some of the most important activities that we have. You know, in addition to the academic program, in addition to maintaining an archive that is unique, really, in traditional music.” –Raymond McClain

At this point, McClain says details of the project are still being finalized.
