The Tax Increment Financing District board in Morehead will now have outside legal counsel.
The group recently deeded the parking lot behind the Morehead conference center to the land developer, Luckett and Farley, in hopes that a new hotel will be built downtown.
However, Rowan County Judge Executive Harry Clark and Morehead Mayor Laura White Brown had some questions about the agreement between the two entities…and asked lawyer James Parsons to look over the documents.
Parson told the group on Thursday some of the agreements already in place caused concern.
The group voted to retain Parsons as their legal counsel moving forward in order to protect the interests of the community’s tax payers.
