King's Daughters Medical Center says it is cutting 148 positions. The announcement was made Thursday by the President and CEO of the Ashland hospital Fred Jackson. He says the move is the result of a decline in patient volumes and reimbursement levels.

In addition to the elimination of jobs, Kings Daughters is also closing its Russell Family Care Center and Pikeville Family Care Center. Those facilities will be mothballed September 1st.
