Money for Hunger Relief

The state legislature is being asked to appropriate half a million dollars to fight hunger in Kentucky. The request is from the Kentucky Association of Food Banks.

Executive Director Tamara Sandburg says the money would go into the Kentucky Department of Agriculture’s Farms to Food Banks Trust Fund…

Sandburg says the trust fund was created in 2009 but it has never received any state money. She says when Kentuckians fill out their 2014 state tax returns they’ll be able to check a box to donate part or all of their refund to the trust fund. It’s the first time that option will be available.
