Remembering NPR's Kevin Drew

LEILA FADEL, HOST:

This morning, we mourn and remember our colleague Kevin Drew, who spent many years keeping us informed and up to speed on everything happening around the world. Kevin was NPR's overnight supervising editor and was the man that took our urgent calls in the middle of the night. This weekend, he passed away of esophageal cancer. He worked with The Associated Press, CNN, The New York Times and us here at NPR. His siblings told us that he lived as he reported, with passion for people and a caring heart. Over his career, he taught journalism and was a member of teams whose work won duPont–Columbia and Peabody Awards. Kevin Drew will be missed. His contributions to NPR, journalism and public service live on.
