Starring Orson Welles, the Mercury Theatre on the Air was an hour-long dramatic radio series which began in the summer of 1938 on the CBS Radio Network. On the evening of October 30, 1938, radio listeners across the United States heard a startling report of mysterious creatures and terrifying war machines moving toward New York City.
