An Upward Bound employee has been arrested for the second time this summer.
33-year-old Samantha Bryant has been the Associate Director of Upward Bound Math and Science at Morehead State University since March of 2018. She has been employed at MSU since 2009.
Bryant was arrested early Saturday morning for allegedly driving under the influence. According to the arrest citation, Bryant was seen swerving while driving south on Kentucky 32 in Rowan County. The arresting officer states she failed a field sobriety test and had a blood alcohol content of .203, more than twice the legal limit. In addition to driving under the influence of alcohol, she was also charged with reckless driving.
Bryant is being held without bond on a previous charge of driving under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested On July 3 on the same road with a blood alcohol content of .120. When taken to the Rowan County Detention center at that time, she admitted to having MDMA, or ecstasy, in her purse. Bryant was then charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance.
Bryant is scheduled to be arraigned on all charges on Sept. 26 at 10:30 am.
