Lexmark’s president and CEO resigned abruptly on Tuesday. The company released a statement saying that Rich Geruson resigned “for personal reasons, effective immediately.”

It went on to read “The board of directors, the company’s investors and the entire Lexmark organization remain singularly focused on profitably growing our business and continuing to deliver world-class, industry-leading products and services to our customers. We continue to be very confident about the long-term success of Lexmark.”

Geruson joined Lexmark last October after serving as President and CEO of Phoenix Technologies. The company has gone through a restructuring program that forced the layoffs of about 1,700 hundred employees world-wide within an 18-month span.
