Beach Volleyball Takes Care of Business, Wins Twice Saturday

Morehead State Beach Volleyball lost just one individual match on Saturday as the Eagles swept Eastern Illinois 5-0 and defeated Lindenwood 4-1 at the OVC Weekend in Chattanooga. MSU evened its OVC mark to 2-2 and season record to 6-6.

The Eagles won in straight sets in all five matches versus Eastern Illinois. Sydney Wyman and Trinity Miller improved to 3-0 on the weekend and 7-1 overall with a win at No. 1. Abby Hulsman and Anya Reinhard got back on track at No. 2 Kinsey McAfee and Bridget Bessler teamed to knock out the Panthers on court three. Peyton Kennedy and Irene Wogenstahl (No. 4) and Brenna Bommer and Andrea Grimes (No. 5) also cruised to wins.

Against Lindenwood, Miller and Wyman absorbed a setback, but their teammates all prevailed, including two three-set winners.

Hulsman and Reinhard pulled out a thrilling 16-14 win in set three to claim their match. Bessler and McAfee dropped their first set but came back to win, highlighted by a 15-13 triumph in set three. Grimes and Bommer, at No.5, fought off their Lindenwood adversaries to win both sets by two points.

The season continues next Sunday (April 2) when the Eagles travel to Tennessee Tech for two conference matchups. They'll then venture to East Tennessee for double rematch with Tusculum on Monday.
