Women's Basketball to Compete in Final Road Test of Regular Season at Tennessee Tech

Morehead State Athletics

Coming off its worst road loss since Nov. 30, Morehead State women's basketball (19-8, 9-5 Ohio Valley Conference) heads to Cookeville for a matchup with Tennessee Tech (10-17, 7-7 OVC) on Monday at 7 p.m. ET.

Despite falling at Belmont by a 96-76 score last Saturday, Morehead State received a career shooting contribution from starting point guard Darianne Seward. The redshirt-sophomore scored 25 points on 7-of-10 shooting from three-point range, complemented by two rebounds, an assist, and a steal.

Aaliyah Wells and Shay Steele also scored in double-digits versus the Bruins, pouring in 15 and 14 points, respectively. Steele added three steals and two blocks to an Eagles defense that outscored Belmont 15-13 off turnovers.

Junior guard Eriel McKee averages a team-best 7.3 rebounds on the season, and with 11.0 points per game, is one of four MSU players who totes a double-digit scoring average. The 5-10 Lawrenceburg, Ky. native scored six points in last weekend's contest, making her the 24th all-time member of Morehead State's 1,000-point club. She joins Steele as the only two Eagles to reach the plateau in 2016-17.

On Jan. 25, Morehead State defeated Tennessee Tech 79-65 at Johnson Arena. Steele filled out the box score with 17 points, five rebounds, four blocks, and four steals in the matchup. Redshirt-senior Brianna McQueen notched a game-high 28 points on 11-of-12 (.917) shooting from the free throw line.

With a win, Morehead State would complete its first season sweep on an opponent this season. The Eagles have a firm hold of second place in the OVC, while TTU currently resides at fifth. Monday's game will be broadcast live on the OVC Digital Network.
