An employee with the Rowan County School District has been arrested for his alleged rape of a student.
39 year old Andrew Zaheri was booked into the Rowan County Detention Center just after 9:00a.m. today on charges of 3rd Degree Rape. The arrest citation states Zaheri has been in an ongoing sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student, and admitted to a detective the offenses did occur. Zaheri has been affiliated with the Rowan County School System for well over a decade.
A statement was issued not long after his arrest on the Rowan County Senior High School Facebook page, though it has since been deleted. It stated the school system was made aware of allegations of inappropriate sexual misconduct between a student and a Rowan County Senior High School employee. The employee has been placed on administrative leave, and the investigation has been turned over to child protective services.
