Governor Beshear says he’s not sure whether Kentucky’s laws on eminent domain need clarification. Some people have called on the governor to ask for a special session of the state legislature to deal with the issue, in light of plans for a pipeline that would carry natural gas liquids through central and northern Kentucky. The companies wanting to build the so-called Bluegrass Pipeline believe they have the right of eminent domain to secure access to land they need for the project.

Beshear says the matter will get a thorough review…

"We're going to take a look at that in January, when we go into regular session. I know that the legislature is in the process of gathering information right now. The had a hearing the other day with one of their committees and that's the process." - Governor Steve Beshear

The Governor says if action is required, the legislature will tackle the issue in January.
