The University of Pikeville will be home to Kentucky’s first College of Optometry. The announcement was made today during a press conference on the UPIKE campus.

Doctor James Hurley is president of the school. He calls it a “milestone for the institution” and the whole Appalachian Region…

Hurley says the new college will bring 240 additional students to the southeastern Kentucky campus and also allow the university to confer more degrees in nursing and health sciences. He says construction of a 90,000 square foot building to house the new College of Optometry will begin soon.
