A former chief deputy of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Department has declared his candidacy for the sheriff’s post next year. 56-year-old Larry Joe Stephens is a Democrat and a life-long resident of Rowan County.
He spent 28 years with the sheriff’s department and also worked as a city police officer in Morehead. If elected to the county’s top law enforcement post, Stephens says, fighting drugs will be his top priority…
Stephens is a veteran and is waging his second campaign for Rowan County Sheriff. The 2014 Primary is in May.
