Ashland’s first Craft Beer Festival will be held in the city’s downtown area this summer. City commissioners voted 3 to 1 on Thursday (Jan. 22) to permit the event on Winchester Avenue between 15th and 17th Streets.
The festival, to be held on Saturday, June 20th, was proposed as a fundraiser for Ashland in Motion, the city’s Main Street organization.
Though concerns were raised about possible public intoxication and security, Danny Craig, director of Ashland in Motion, doesn’t see that as a problem. He thinks the beer tasting will be a big success.
“It’s one of those things that it’s just working everywhere and it’ll work here and the response I’ve already been getting by putting the word out on the street has been phenomenal so, that’s why I think it’s gonna be a success.” –Danny Craig
Craig says those patronizing the festival will have to be at least 21 years old and will pay a 25-dollar admission charge. He says a select number of VIP passes will be sold for 50-dollars.
