According to the National Weather Service, last month and August, 2013 were the wettest Augusts ever in eastern Kentucky…At least, as long as records have been kept. John Jacobson is a meteorologist with the Jackson office. He says the region received eight and a half inches of rain last month, second only to the ten-plus inches that fell the previous August.

He says normal rainfall for the month in eastern Kentucky is about three and a half inches…

Jacobson says it’s anybody’s guess whether the unusual amount of precipitation will continue this month.
